Thursday Thoughts for Parents | "The Adventure Begins"
This post is based on C.J. Mahaney's sermon, The Adventure Begins, given on August 12, 2018.
This past Sunday, CJ introduced us to the “most powerful adventure story of all time”, the book of Exodus. This divinely inspired book is an “epic tale of fire, sand, wind, and water” that “once heard…is never forgotten”. As CJ taught, every masterful scene of this Old Testament gospel is meant to inform our own spiritual journey and sweep us up into an encounter with the LORD, ultimately pointing us to Christ Jesus our Savior and the forever songs that we, the redeemed, will be singing in glory.
As a family, read Exodus 34:6-7
- Pastor CJ mentioned on Sunday a variety of adventure stories included in the book of Exodus. What stories do you remember from past readings of this book? (i.e. baby in the basket, burning bush, plagues in Egypt, crossing of the Red Sea, provision in the wilderness, Ten Commandments, Tabernacle)
- How do we see the grace of God in these stories?
- What could we do as a family to become more “intimately familiar” with this book?
- How can we encourage each other to be freshly reminded of the grace that God has gifted to us in Exodus, the gospel of the Old Testament?
Thank the Lord for our pastors who faithfully bring us His Word every week and for giving us the epic book of Exodus.
