Thursday Thoughts for Parents: "The Deadly Danger of False Teaching"

Thursday parenting featured

This post is based on C.J. Mahaney's sermon, The Deadly Danger of False Teaching, given on Feburary 4, 2018.

Think about a time when you felt scared, but then someone took care of you and kept you safe.  Maybe you woke up during a thunder storm and saw lightning flash outside your window.   Maybe your mom or dad came to check on you and reassure you that everything was going to be okay.  That’s a good feeling, to know that someone cares about you and is taking care of you.  On Sunday, Pastor CJ taught us about how pastors are called to take care of God’s people by guarding them against wrong teaching.  This job is so important in our time.  The internet and social media allow just about anyone to gain a platform to teach whatever they think is right.  Let’s thank God for pastors that not only expose false teaching, but also faithfully teach truth from the word of God every Sunday.

Read Titus 1:10-16

  • Why is it so important to stop and refute false teaching?
  • What motivates our pastors to teach us?  How is that different from the false teachers on Crete?
  • How can we live our lives in such a way that we are better protected from false teaching?
  • What is one thing you think God is calling you to change in your life as a result of this message?
