Thursday Thoughts for Parents | "Gifted to Serve"
This post is based on Brian Chesemore's sermon, Gifted to Serve, given on August 27, 2017.
Everybody has one. Whether you’ve been a Christian for a week or many years, the Holy Spirit has given you a gift. When we receive a gift, we can think that gift is just for us. But God’s gifts are different. When God gives us a gift it’s meant to be used to care for others. It may sound strange, but that is just like God who gave a gift two thousand years ago to care for the biggest problem any of us will ever have. Serving each other with our gifts is Peter’s focus in this passage as he shepherds us toward glorifying God through Jesus Christ (1 Pt. 4:11).
Read 1 Pet. 4:10-11
- Look at verse 10. According to Pastor Brian, what is the goal God has for the gift He gives each of us?
- According to v. 11, who should we sound like when we speak? What should our words sound like?
- At the end of verse 11, what is it that belongs to God alone and why? Kids, ask your parents about the gift God gave two thousand years ago that reflects His glory.
