Last Tuesday night the Kauflin community group had the joy of gathering with Steve Whitacre’s group for an evening of great food and fellowship at EP Tom Sawyer Park. Chad and Casey Hester administrated the event and Julie Kauflin came through with some award winning smoked BBQ.
While you might think it was just a picnic, it became an opportunity for over fifty adults and kids to experience the varied work of the Spirit in our midst outside of Sunday morning. It was obvious that people came to engage with each other. Looking around at one point, it looked like nearly every table alternated people from the Kauflin group with folks from the Whitacre group. New relationships began. Old friendships were renewed and strengthened. Guests were welcomed and encouraged. People played together, laughed together, and prayed together. And it was evident that in the less than two years we’ve been a church, God has been building us into a temple in which he dwells by his Spirit (Ephesians 2:22).
